George Lott

Partner

George Lott is a partner in the firm’s Environmental Practice, where he represents plaintiffs — including nonprofit environmental and conservation organizations, landowners, and affected communities — in environmental, land use, and regulatory matters.

George has spent over a decade handling some of Georgia’s most high-profile pollution disputes, representing those harmed by contamination and those working to protect clean water, soil, sensitive habitats, and residential communities threatened by disproportionately harmful industrial activity.

His litigation practice centers on toxic tort, permitting, zoning and land use, and complex environmental contamination cases in state and federal courts. George has extensive experience in water quality disputes, including claims under the Clean Water Act, the Oil Pollution Act, and related federal and state-law analogues. He has also successfully pursued and resolved numerous state common law claims — including nuisance, trespass, and riparian rights — on behalf of landowners and communities affected by contamination of surface water and groundwater, air pollution, noise, odors, vibration, and other harms. His air pollution work encompasses permitting and regulatory violations as well as disputes involving dust and particulate emissions.

George has vigorously challenged concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs), hyperscale data centers, and other heavy industrial operations that threaten surrounding communities, small businesses, and the natural resources on which they depend. He is currently at the forefront of the growing nationwide effort to hold data center developers accountable for the environmental impact of their operations, including excessive water consumption and water pollution, noise pollution, strain on local energy infrastructure, and seismic activity.

Before joining the firm, George developed his environmental advocacy practice as an associate at Stack & Associates, P.C., a boutique firm dedicated exclusively to environmental law. That experience gave him a strong foundation in the specialized regulatory frameworks and plaintiff-side litigation strategies that define his practice today.

George is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Georgia and is a member of the State Bar of Georgia. He earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Florida State University, where he served as a member of the Journal of Land Use & Environmental Law — one of the nation’s leading publications in the field. He received his undergraduate degree from Georgia Southern University.

Outside of the office, George is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys live music and spending time with his wife and daughter.
